WHO's TALKING?

How to grow your restaurant business with video.

Posted on October 19, 2017 by northcountyfood

So, we have a great restaurant community up here in North County. Another thing we have, that may go over looked, is a great number of businesses that support that community. Whether it is Cyclops Farms providing great, local, organic produce to local eateries, or organizations like Mainstreet Oceanside and Visit Oceanside helping new restaurant owners build their networks and contacts. We are pretty lucky.

Another member of that community is “The King’s Touch Video” who specialize in video photography. I met the owners, Shawn and Roberta, over a year ago at a Mainstreet  promotions committee meeting. Not only was I struck by their experience and scope of work but also themselves as people. Since that time I have introduced them to a number of local restauranteurs and chefs, who they ended up doing video and photography for.

Because I am always doing one project or another, or just stuffing my face, I talk to these Chefs and owners over and over again and have heard nothing but high praise for the quality of work and customer service provided by Shawn and his wife .
The reason I am mentioning them here is because they want to focus more of their business on restaurants, chefs, and food as it is a passion of theirs.
Press play above to see their work. They also have a lot of food based examples on their website.
This is not a paid ad for their services. I just believe in their ability and think they are a great support business for the local restaurant community.

So, if you are in the market to expand coverage of your restaurant or bar through video, I would highly recommend their services.

So, in my rounds I get asked about professional photography and video production by a lot of restaurant owners. My answer is always the same ” I would contact Shawn at The King’s Touch”. There are a number of reasons I say this….They are great at what they do, they are local and support local businesses, and we run in the same industry and crowd. So, I have relationships with the people and businesses they have done work with and I have never had heard anything but praise.
Shawn has over 20 years experience and has spent the last 15 of those working with small businesses. I met them at the first Mainstreet meeting they attended and have seen them really help and promote local businesses through their services.
I think the best thing I can do is link up some examples…….of course they are gonna be all food related ones:) but they can do other businesses too.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberta and Shawn King.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Roberta and Shawn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are a couple who have been married for 14 years. We both come from a corporate back ground but have always shared a passion for creativity through photography, writing and painting. Shawn and I discovered a love for film making and took several classes and then started working with independent film production companies in LA and Hollywood. Being community driven we became involved with local film festivals and community events. We found that the Entertainment industry was a little more self driven then what we wanted to identify with and decided to start out on our own in 2009. We took our love, creativity and expertise in film making and created the Kings Touch Video Production & Cinematography to bring a higher level but more affordable video production service to entrepreneurs and small businesses; especially those looking to elevate their brand or have their current brand stand out. Those businesses who traditionally could never afford the quality and experience. As a couple we are best friends, first who love what we do and enjoy working together. We try to bring that joy to our clients by making the whole production and filming process as stress free as possible. We try to bring their message, passion and story to life and give them a tool that helps them grow as a business/entrepreneur.
Being the creatives we are, we believe there isn’t a production too small or too big. We have filmed restaurants, breweries, photographers, florists, life events, business associations, corporations and much more. Our goal is to not only meet their need in video services but give them more than what they expected.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely not been smooth. Coming from a corporate back ground I think we take for granted the consistent paychecks, financially we had to make a lot of sacrifices and strengthen our marriage to ride the monetary highs and lows. Not having an emergency fund or paid vacation made way for a lot of stress and anxiety in the beginning. Wondering if we made the right choice for the kids….
Not having traditional days off, watching Saturdays and Holidays roll by like any other work day. 14 hour days and working through the night were common place for a while. I think I took for granted especially the discipline a 9 to 5 provides for its employees to be productive and successful in their job. I really never thought about that someone that had to put procedures and policies in place for a business to thrive. I remember being super excited to sleep in and set my own schedule…. after several failed contracts, missed deadlines and disastrous meetings, 9:00 really isn’t early at all when you’re the boss or self-employed….
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The King’s Touch Video Production & Cinematographers – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a video production company. We create engaging videos that bring your brand to life.
We specialize in bringing high quality video at an affordable rate to small business and entrepreneurs, a market that is traditionally under served. What sets us apart is our approach to our clients. We put emphasis on customer service and minimal work flow interruption. We are most proud of the fact that every client we have serviced has walked away with a better experience then they set out with. Our customer service approach takes the fear, stress and anxiety out of the filming process…
